Senior Risk Manager - Engineering COO Office
The mission of the Engineering COO Office is to engage with issues and risks that face the Engineering department as a whole and to design and implement appropriate interventions to mitigate or resolve them. These interventions usually require collaboration across the department and often require liaising with external departments as needed.
In support of this mission we:
• Manage Engineering-initiated programs and projects that span the department
• Collaborate with Engineering leaders to develop engineering-owned solutions to problems and drive adoption across the organization.
• Design policies and thoughtfully drive compliance
• Implement Engineering-wide change management initiatives
• Fill gaps in the organization, owning processes that don't fit naturally in an - Engineering department or require continuous collaboration across department boundaries
• Represent Engineering as a stakeholder in externally-sponsored projects and serve as trusted communicators with clients and Bloomberg partners. We are passionate about mitigating operational risk and diligent about minimizing bureaucracy as we implement change across the department.
We are looking for a Senior Risk Manager to join our team to be responsible for identifying, owning and managing risks present in the Engineering organization. The Senior Risk Manager will be responsible for establishing a first line of defense risk management program by establishing a risk management framework, ensuring appropriate controls and control monitoring, assessing operational processes and technology risks, identifying weaknesses or gaps, and monitoring principal risks.
We'll trust you to:
• Establish a risk management framework that enables the department to identify, assess and ensure mitigation of operational risks associated with Engineering technology and processes
• Design and implement assurance programs that monitor and demonstrate policy compliance across the department
• Manage risk acceptances and track issues to closure. Monitor and report risks and controls to applicable forums.
• Continuously assess and test the effectiveness of business-spanning Engineering controls, and make recommendations for improvement
• Collaborate with risk (second line of defense) and internal audit (third line of defense) teams to demonstrate that internal controls are effectively implemented
• Stay informed on risk industry and educational/development opportunities
• Be a thought-leader on the subject of risk analytics and controls
• Bring the best out of people and be motivated by the successes of others
You'll need to have:
• 4+ years of experience in risk management at a technology company, preferably at a cloud provider or at a company providing SaaS technology to a regulated industry
• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Technology, Information Systems, or related discipline
• Understanding of risk management frameworks and Risk and Control Self Assessments (RCSA)
• Prior risk management experience in either a first or second line of defense capacity
• Demonstrated experience motivating positive change through risk management initiatives and experience growing a matrixed team to help you do it
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to act decisively and independently to resolve complex issues
• A proven track record of success interacting with all levels of clients, staff and management, including risk professionals, product managers, engineers, lawyers and compliance managers.
• A desire to build a large trusted network across Engineering, Risk and other Bloomberg departments
• An inclusive mindset that welcomes ideas of others and seeks critical feedback
• A learning mindset that appreciates the value of experimenting and adjusting tactics while staying focused on accomplishing defined goals
• Comfort working under uncertain conditions and flexibility to work on other Engineering COO initiatives aligned with the overall mission but outside of Risk Management scope

Salary Range: 110,000 - 210,000 USD Annually + Benefits + Bonus
The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
